Human authors, reviewers and editors remain responsible for the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and appropriateness of scholarly work when AI-assisted technologies are used.
Authorship
AI tools should not be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility, approve a final version or be accountable for the work.
Authors
Authors should disclose material use of AI-assisted technologies when required by the journal and should verify all generated or transformed content. AI use does not remove responsibility for originality, citations, accuracy, ethics or data protection.
Reviewers
Confidential manuscripts, figures, data or supplementary files should not be uploaded to public or third-party generative-AI systems when this would disclose confidential information. Reviewers remain responsible for their review.
Editors
Editors should protect confidential submissions and should not rely on AI systems to make autonomous editorial decisions. Any approved AI-assisted workflow should be documented, secure and subject to human oversight.
