For Authors

Publisher-level guidance for authors on journal selection, submission, authorship, ethics, reporting, conflicts, data, AI use and post-publication responsibilities.

Authors submit manuscripts directly to the journal that best matches the subject, article type and intended readership of their work. Journal-specific instructions always take precedence for formatting, article types, fees, peer-review procedures and submission requirements.

Choose the right journal

Review the journal’s aims and scope, article types, current author guidelines and peer-review model before preparing a submission. Explore the QES Academic Press journal portfolio →

Publishing journey

  1. Select the appropriate journal. Read its aims, scope and author guidelines.
  2. Complete pre-submission checks. Confirm originality, authorship, ethics approval, consent, trial registration and required reporting guidelines.
  3. Prepare the manuscript and files. Follow the journal’s current formatting and submission instructions.
  4. Submit through the official system. Do not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to another journal.
  5. Respond to editorial and peer-review requests. Address comments accurately and respectfully, including a point-by-point response when revision is invited.
  6. Complete accepted-manuscript requirements. Provide final declarations, licensing/copyright documentation and responses to production queries.
  7. Review proofs carefully. Report production errors promptly and avoid introducing unnecessary new content at proof stage.
  8. Protect the scholarly record after publication. Contact the journal if a material error or integrity concern is identified.

General author standards

  • Originality: submitted work should be original and overlapping publication, preprints or related manuscripts should be disclosed.
  • Authorship: listed authors should meet the journal’s criteria and take appropriate responsibility; contributorship should be described accurately.
  • Conflicts and funding: relevant financial and non-financial relationships, funding sources and sponsor roles should be disclosed.
  • Research ethics: human and animal research should include appropriate ethics approval and consent information where required.
  • Clinical trials: prospective trial registration should be provided where applicable under the journal’s policy.
  • Reporting quality: authors should use appropriate study-design reporting guidelines such as CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE or ARRIVE when relevant.
  • Data and images: data, figures and images must not be fabricated, falsified or inappropriately manipulated.
  • AI-assisted tools: authors remain responsible for all submitted content and should disclose AI-assisted use when required. AI tools should not be listed as authors.

Fees, waivers and editorial independence

Each journal should publish the exact article-processing charge or other author charges, what the charge covers, when it is payable and any waiver or discount rules. Payment or ability to pay must not determine whether a manuscript is accepted for publication.
