Scope
Integrity concerns may include fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, inappropriate image manipulation, unethical research, undisclosed conflicts, authorship disputes, redundant publication, peer-review manipulation or other conduct that may affect the reliability or provenance of scholarly work.
Assessment of concerns
Concerns should be assessed objectively and confidentially, with appropriate opportunity for relevant parties to respond. The journal may request underlying information or clarification when reasonably necessary. Serious institutional matters may require referral to the relevant institution or authority.
Protection of the record
When published content requires correction or other action, the response should be clearly labeled, linked to the affected article and proportionate to the problem. See Corrections, Retractions & Post-publication Updates.
Good-faith reporting
Readers, authors, reviewers and editors may raise concerns privately through the journal or publisher contact route. Reports should provide enough information to identify the material and describe the concern without unnecessary disclosure of personal data.
